This year, the Charlie Hutton Hockey Festival is again being kindly supported by Whitgift and the date has been agreed as Saturday 6th September 2014, so make sure it’s in your diary.
This year we’d like to make this an even more memorable celebration for Charlie and the skill, passion and fun that was so much a part of his love of hockey. Getting lots of people there to support and enjoy the day would be great but any help or ideas to make the day even more successful would also be appreciated.
Below are the contact details of the generous people already giving up their time to help with the CHHF so if you could feedback to them re any related queries or offers that would be great:
School teams will be co-ordinated by Karl Stagno: email@example.com
Music, DJs and announcements will be by team Durling: Russell.Durling@derwentlondon.com
We’ll be looking at doing a hog roast again, but a bigger one this time so we don’t run out. If you know or can recommend anyone for this do let Gill know: firstname.lastname@example.org
We’ll try to sort some more activities including a raffle with even better prizes so any donations or ideas for this can you let me or Mervyn Lyn know: email@example.com
Any other helpers who can give up some time to help sell raffle tickets, sweets and drinks, or make the cakes and nibbles, please contact Susie Francis: firstname.lastname@example.org
Regarding the Hockey, we will have the same format for the boys teams, but we propose using the full pitch for an adults exhibition game around lunchtime. This would be a longer match for two large adult teams: Whitgift leavers and old boys, with Tom and Sam – vs – all stars (Oxted mens, Teachers, SoB and any others, hopefully some England players). This will be 30 mins each way and lots of subs. This gives the teachers a chance to catch their breath and the boys a chance to have some lunch with families and watch the fun.
We’ll need a team list for boys and the two adult teams in due course. Can I suggest that those wishing to play for the Whitgift leavers and old boys confirm with Tom and Sam Hutton: Tom Hutton email@example.com or Sam Hutton firstname.lastname@example.org. Those who wish to play for the all stars, including Whitgift teachers, please confirm with Andy Rogers : email@example.com
All final teams are then supplied to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Any boys teams, outside the Whitgift squads, that want to play in the CHHF should let Karl Stagno know : email@example.com. I hope that we can have an Oxted Boys, Surrey Boys and Brom Becs squad as last year. With less adult teams there may be room for 1 or 2 more boys teams so pass around to see if any teams are interested – same rules re age groups as last year.
Please feel free to distribute the email and this blog to a wider Hockey audience and friends, to save the date. Charlie’s giving page is also still going here and Tom and Sam are undertaking additional activities to try to reach a target of £20,000 by the end of this year…More re these activities here.
Many thanks again for all your support.
Simon, Gill, Tom and Sam Hutton
